Why American Media Taking a Theology Class Article

As a Muslim person who is from Saudi Arabia. I am affected by the American media. 9/11 and Boston bombings and many many other incidents happened in the name of Islam which it is not. I like the article from its title “The American Media Needs to Take a Theology Class (or Three) (Jenkins).” They really need to take it because what they are dealing with here is not something small. For instance, when they cover a story which is sensitive like a bombing in the name of a religion, they are not dealing with a small society, they are dealing with a billion individual or more. As a Muslim, I media has affected me. After 9/11 millions of Muslims got affected by the media because of the incident. Many Americans thought that Islam is the religion which encourages killing innocent people and that made Americans terrified, and I don’t blame them. I blame the media. In the article, the Author wrote about how if the media treated religions with respect and how it will perhaps improve the quality of the coverage and I agreed with the author on this idea. Especially with Muslims, Muslims are very sensitive when it comes to their religion, and I believe every religion is the same. For example, the Charlie hebdo shooting in Paris. Charlie hebdo is a known magazine in France which one time they draw prophet Mohammed which made those terrorists angry. I hated that drawing, and it insulted me as a Muslim, but I would never shoot them because of that. At least, that is not what prophet Muhammad taught us about Islam.

Islam is a religion of peace, and that crime does not represent Islam. After the shooting is the most critical time of the incident, and I mean the coverage. After the shooting is the time when people start judging whom do we hate now? Who is responsible? When this time comes, the media has a powerful tool now. They have the power to blame and it is priceless. They can say the truth or lie. It is their choice. Either blaming more than 1 billion Muslims or Al-Qaeda who are not Muslims.
